Dealing with Distress
6 weeks of Life Skills

Based within Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), this very popular group introduces participants to a range of practical and effective coping skills from each of the DBT modules of Mindfulness, Emotional Regulation, Distress Tolerance and Interpersonal Effectiveness.

 

Taught by experienced Psychologists , together with a take home program manual, this group provides great foundations for anyone wanting to cope better with life, as well as anyone who experiences difficult emotions.

 

Over 6 consecutive weeks you will learn a range of fundamental coping skills and learn when and how to apply them with success

 

This group is good for anyone wanting to learn a range of life skills and get better at doing life.

 

Dealing with Distress is a perfect addition to your individual therapy, teaching you a range of skills and tools you can customise in your individual therapy sessions. To assist in participants feeling emotionally safe, in this particular group therapy program participants DO NOT share their stories or anything about themselves.

 

  • This group runs 2-3 times per year, usually of an evening

Advanced Dealing with Distress

10 weeks of more Life Skills

Based within Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), this very popular group follows on from the introductory Dealing with Distress group.

 

This Advanced group teaches participants to a range of coping skills from each of the DBT modules of Mindfulness, Emotional Regulation, Distress Tolerance and Interpersonal Effectiveness in more detail and incorporates CBT techniques.

 

Taught by experienced Psychologists , together with a take home program manual, this group provides more in-depth skills knowledge for anyone who is wanting more detailed and practical applications of the skills taught in the Introductory group.

 

Over 10 consecutive weeks you will learn how to apply a range of coping skills, when to apply them and how to apply them with success.

This group is good for anyone wanting to enhance their knowledge of DBT and further refine a range of life skills. The Advanced Dealing with Distress group aims to help you get better at doing life.

 

Again, the Advanced group is a perfect addition to your individual therapy, teaching you a range of skills and tools you can customise in your individual therapy sessions.

 

To assist participants feeling emotionally safe within a group therapy session, in this particular group therapy program, participant numbers are kept to 6-8 people and all participants are encouraged to participate at whatever level they feel confident with.

Relaxation and Meditation Training

Calming the Mind and Body

If you are looking for an effective treatment for reducing muscle tension and learning how to relax your body voluntarily, then this is the group to start with. In Relaxation and Meditation training, our Psychologists will guide you through various relaxation training techniques, including special breathing techniques to assist in calming the mind and body.

 

Muscle tension is usually associated with stress and feelings of anxiousness and can contribute to ongoing feelings of stress and depression. Regular relaxation and meditation practice has been shown to have enormous health benefits and improve psychological wellbeing and it is a great investment for your overall health.

Relaxation and Meditation Training Calming the Mind and Body

Change Your Thinking for Mood Disorders
8 weeks of CBT

Change Your Thinking is based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), the therapy of choice for mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.

 

In this group therapy program, our Psychologists will teach you how to overcome self-defeating thoughts and behaviours using CBT techniques including Mindfulness.

 

Change Your Thinking will guide you to managing upsetting emotions by learning to think in a healthy and balanced manner.

 

In this group therapy program, you will learn practical strategies for overcoming negative thoughts and behaviours and take control of emotions such as anxiety, depression, frustration, anger and guilt. In addition, we will discuss techniques for enhancing self-esteem, communication skills and help you develop greater personal happiness.

 

Change Your Thinking is conducted over 8 consecutive weeks and uses a manual and requires practice of strategies outside of group therapy sessions.

GREAT DREAM Skills Building Program
3 Weeks

The GREAT DREAM Skill Building program will explore Giving, Relating, Exercising, Appreciating, Trying out, Direction, Resilience, Emotions, Acceptance and Meaning so that you can focus on a few key areas to enrich your slide and make it more rewarding.
